How to Product Tag Your Cabi Posts on Instagram

4 min read

You have the cute cabi photo. You have the caption. You have your clients asking, “Where can I get that?” This is where product tagging comes in.

Product tagging makes it easier for someone scrolling your Instagram to go from “I love that!” to actually checking out the piece. Instead of asking you which top you are wearing, they can tap the product tag and shop.

First, Make Sure You Are Set Up

Before you can tag products, your Instagram account needs to be PUBLIC and either a BUSINESS OR CREATOR account. Your products also need to be available in a product catalog (cabi has taken care of this)

Product tagging is only available to PUBLIC accounts.

If you do not see the option to tag products, your account may not have access yet.

How to Product Tag an Instagram Post

Step 1: Create Your Post

Open Instagram and tap the + to create a new post.

Choose your photo or carousel and make any edits you want.

We recommend using a strong image that clearly shows the cabi piece you want people to shop.

Step 2: Write Your Caption

Add your caption as usual.

Think about your caption as the conversation and the product tag as the shortcut to shopping.

You do not need to turn every post into a sales pitch. Share styling tips, outfit ideas, personal stories and ways you would wear the piece.

Step 3: Tap Tag Products

Before publishing your post, look for the option to Tag Products. This might be under More Options.

Tap it and then select the area of the photo where you want the product tag to appear.

You can also add product tags to old posts. Click Edit on the post then down to Tag Products.

Step 4: Search for Your Product

Search CABI CLOTHING to bring up catalog.

Search for the cabi piece you want to tag.

Select the correct product from the catalog.

Take a second to make sure you selected the right piece. You do not want to tag the cardigan when you meant to tag the jacket.

Step 5: Add More Products If Needed

You can add additional product tags when they genuinely help someone shop the look.

This is where we recommend a little restraint.

If your photo features a jacket, top, pants, shoes, necklace, earrings and handbag, you do not necessarily need to tag every single item.

Choose the pieces that matter most to the post.

Step 6: Review and Share

Take one last look at your photo and make sure your tags are positioned where they make sense. Then share your post.

Once published, shoppers can tap the product tag to learn more and continue to shop.

A Little Product Tagging Advice From PC

Product tagging is helpful, but more is not always better.

Do Not Tag Every Single Thing

If your photo shows an entire outfit, you may be tempted to tag everything.

Resist the urge. Too many tags can make a beautiful photo feel cluttered. It can also make it harder for someone to know which piece you are actually highlighting.

If your post is about the Marlowe Jacket, tag the Marlowe Jacket.

If you are sharing a complete outfit and the goal is to show how the pieces work together, tagging two or three key pieces can make sense.

Tag What You Are Talking About

Your product tags should match the focus of your caption.

If you are talking about your favorite new sweater, tag the sweater.

If you are sharing three ways to style one pair of pants, tag the pants.

Make it easy for your audience to connect the post with the product.

Use Product Tags as a Helpful Next Step

Your caption should still give people a reason to stop and read.

The product tag should make the next step easier.

Think about it like this:

Your photo gets their attention.

Your caption starts the conversation.

Your product tag makes shopping easier.

Remember That Not Every Post Needs a Product Tag

This one is important. You do not need to product tag every post.

Some of your best content may be a personal story, a styling tip, a behind the scenes photo or a conversation starter. Social media is about connection too. Product tags are simply one tool that can help turn interest into shopping when it makes sense.

What Should You Product Tag?

Here are a few great opportunities:

New Arrivals

Show off a new piece and make it easy to shop.

Outfit Posts

Tag the key pieces in the look.

Styling Tips

If you are showing how to style one piece three different ways, tag that piece.

Seasonal Favorites

Highlight the pieces you know your clients will be reaching for.

Flat-lays

Use product tags on a flat-lay when the pieces are easy to identify.

Reels

If you are showing an outfit or styling several pieces, product tagging can help turn that Reel into a shopping opportunity. Meta also supports product tagging in Reels.

One More Thing

Do not let the technical part of product tagging take over your content strategy.

The goal is still to create posts that make women want to stop, look and imagine themselves wearing the clothes. Product tagging simply gives them an easier way to take that next step. So, take the photo. Tell the story. Share the styling tip.

Then, when it makes sense, give them an easy way to shop it. That is social media doing its job.
